Create a project

Available on all plansHow-toOpen in DealJourney
  1. 1Open Projects from the sidebar and go to the projects view.
  2. 2Create a new project and name it after what is being delivered, not after the customer alone — most customers eventually have more than one.
  3. 3Link it to the customer, and to the opportunity it came from if there is one.
  4. 4Set Start and Deadline.
  5. 5Set Budget hrs — the hours you have to deliver it in.
  6. 6Save, then add the work as tasks.

Set the budget even when it is a guess. Without it, Spent hrs has nothing to be measured against, and the project reports as healthy no matter how much time goes into it. An approximate budget makes overrun visible; no budget hides it completely.

Link it to the deal. That link is what lets anyone compare what was sold with what delivery actually cost, which is the only reliable way to find out whether a type of work is worth selling at the price you charge.

Link the project to a company goal if it is meant to serve one — Link a project… — so the objective shows the work behind it rather than being an aspiration nobody can trace.
