Threads

A thread is a conversation hanging off one message. Use Svar i tråd on the message you are responding to.

Picking up where you stopped. A thread opens at its first unread reply when that reply is in the loaded page. Your own replies do not count as unread. Confirmed replies remain visible while newer replies load. Reading advances through the replies visible in the thread and catches up all earlier replies too; replies further below stay unread until you reach them. Jumping to the newest replies can therefore skip earlier text while catching up the read cursor. The channel's sidebar badge includes unread replies in the threads you follow. In a long thread, load earlier replies to reach the unread boundary before reading on; opening only the recent page does not clear the unseen earlier replies.

Marking a reply unread puts that reply and later replies from other people back in the unread pile. It stays unread while you leave the conversation; reopening the thread resumes reading from that point.

Summarize a thread privately. Open the thread and choose Oppsummer tråd, then Lag oppsummering. Dealy separates Diskusjon, Beslutninger and Gjøremål, with source links back to the messages. It includes every available text message, including replies not yet loaded on screen. Deleted messages, automatic system updates and attachment contents are excluded. A thread that is too long is rejected explicitly, rather than summarized from a partial sample. The summary is visible only to you and is not posted to chat. It uses your workspace's AI access and credits. Use Lag en ny oppsummering to include later replies.

Turn the to-do list into activities. Select the suggestions you want, review their titles and optional dates, then choose Legg til valgte aktiviteter. These become planned task activities assigned to you in the workspace named in the dialog. Nothing is created until you choose this button. Source-message references stay with each activity. The selected batch is saved together; retrying the same request does not duplicate it. Open a saved activity using its title to add CRM links or change its owner. You need permission to create activities. When viewing another workspace's conversation from your current workspace, switch to that conversation's workspace before adding activities. After adding a batch, generate a new summary to add more. A summary's add permission expires after two hours.

Why it matters. In a busy channel, three unrelated discussions interleaved are unreadable an hour later. Threads keep each one whole, and keep the main channel to headlines.

The conversation list previews the latest message in the main chat. Its time and recency order follow that message too. Replies inside a thread, including automatic issue updates and Dealy replies, do not replace that preview or move the conversation up the list. Thread unread indicators and notifications follow your thread and activity preferences separately.

If it is already a mess, Flytt sitatkjeden til en tråd lifts the back-and-forth out of the channel and into a thread where it belongs.

Following. Replying to a thread, or being mentioned in one, means you follow it — new replies reach you without you watching the channel. Everything you follow appears in your activity view: Mentions, your activity queue, and search

Unread forum posts and notifications. A new post is unread even before anyone replies. Opening the forum list does not read its posts; open a post to read it, or explicitly mark the channel as read. Posting in one discussion does not clear the others.

New posts notify channel members who have Alle meldinger selected. Replies in a thread you do not follow still appear unread on its forum card, but do not add to your chat notification badge or send a notification unless you are directly mentioned. Following a thread enables reply notifications; replying follows it automatically. Your channel mute and notification settings still apply.

You follow from the moment you join, not from the start. Speak up in a thread that already has thirty replies and you are notified about the thirty-first onwards. The thirty you missed stay where they are, in the thread, for you to read if you want them; they do not turn up in your activity as though they had just been said.

Unfollowing stops what comes next and nothing else. Use the follow button in the thread's header to stop, and new replies no longer reach you. The replies that arrived while you were still following stay in your activity — they really were sent to you, and a queue that quietly deletes its own history is not one you can trust. Follow again later and you pick up from that moment; the stretch you sat out stays out.

Threads in your sidebar. Active threads are listed so you can get back to them. Open the sidebar menu, then hover over Behold leste tråder (or open it with a tap or the keyboard) to choose how long a thread stays there after you have read it: Bare mens de er uleste, I 3 timer, I 24 timer, I 3 dager or I 7 dager.

Short keeps the list clean; long means a slow conversation someone answers tomorrow is still where you left it. If you keep losing threads, lengthen it rather than blaming your memory. Fjern til noen svarer drops one by hand.

Every thread in one conversation. The Tråder button in the conversation's header, next to the pins, lists the threads in that channel or direct message, the one most recently replied to first. Each row shows the thread's title, who started it, how many replies it has and when the last one came in. Pick one to open it; Alle tråder in the thread's header takes you back to the list.

The list looks back 30 days by default, which is where the thread you are looking for almost always is. Widen it from the range picker, up to All tid, and type in Finn en tråd to narrow it down by title or by who started it. A forum has no such button: its post list already is its list of threads.

Naming a thread. A thread is titled with the first line of the message that started it. To give it a better name, click the title in the thread's header and type; Enter saves it. Clear the field to go back to the first line. Anyone who can post in the conversation can rename a thread, and the name shows in Tråder for everyone.

Linking to a thread. Right-click a thread wherever it is listed: a forum post card, a row in Tråder, or the replies line under a message. Kopier lenke til tråden puts its link on your clipboard, and Åpne i ny fane opens it beside the one you are in. You do not have to open a thread to link it. On a phone, press and hold instead. Pasted into a message, the link shows as a card reading Tråd i {{channel}}.

Faster still, type # in the message box and the start of the thread's title. The list shows Tråder og innlegg next to Samtaler, each with the channel it is in, and you can keep typing more words to narrow it down. In a forum, or while replying in a thread, threads are listed first; elsewhere, channels are. Only threads you can already read are offered, and tagging a thread notifies nobody. A # right at the start of a line followed by a space is still a heading.

Not sure which is which? The + in the message box offers Nevn noen (@) and Lenk til en samtale eller tråd (#). Picking one simply types the character for you, so after a few times you will type it yourself.

The same thing reported twice. Open the newer thread and use Lukk som duplikat av en annen tråd in its header. Search for the thread it repeats, or paste that thread's link, and pick it. The thread is resolved and shows Lukket som duplikat av at the top, so anyone who finds it later goes straight on to the conversation that is still going. In a forum its card is marked Duplikat. Reopening the thread removes the pointer. Anyone who can post in the channel can do this.

Finding the reply somebody just left. A thread does not move up the channel when it gets a reply, so in a busy channel a new answer can sit hundreds of messages above where you are reading. When you have unread replies and nothing unread at the top level, Ulest svar appears above the composer and takes you straight to that thread. Gå til uleste does the same for a new message in the channel itself, and Nye meldinger marks where you had got to.

Kunne ikke åpne tråden — meldingen ligger for langt tilbake i kanalens historikk. — the parent message has scrolled beyond the channel's loaded history. Use search to find it and open the thread from there: Mentions, your activity queue, and search

If the conversation stops updating, a banner says so: Mottar ikke nye meldinger akkurat nå. Kobler til igjen… It reconnects on its own, and what is on screen stays readable meanwhile. You should never be reading a stale channel that looks live.

Choosing a thread in the sidebar highlights it immediately. A fine coloured line connects it to its channel, while the channel itself stays unhighlighted.
