Sales sequences

A sales sequence is a planned series of follow-up steps applied to a person over time — an email now, a call in three days, a task next week. It runs the outreach cadence so nobody is dropped because someone forgot day four.

Sequences live under Sekvenser in the sidebar.

Steps come in three kinds, and the difference matters:

  • Email — sent for you at the right moment.
  • Call and task — these do not happen by themselves. They appear as work assigned to a person, who still has to do them.

A sequence that is all email is an automated mailshot. A good one mixes both, and the manual steps are the ones that actually convert.

Sequences versus workflow automation. A sequence is a cadence over time aimed at one person — several touches, spaced out, that stop when they reply. A workflow rule is a single reaction to an event — this happened, so do that. Use a sequence to work a prospect; use a rule to keep the CRM tidy.

Replies stop the sequence. That is the behaviour that makes them safe to use: the moment someone answers, the remaining steps stop rather than continuing to chase somebody who is already talking to you. A sequence that kept sending after a reply would cost you the deal it just won.

Workflow rules can react to sequence events — an enrolment created, completed, or replied to — which is how a reply becomes a task for a human.
