Set the hours sold on a project and watch them count down

Sold a customer forty hours? Put forty on the project and every hour logged against it counts down from there.

1. 1Open the project and select Rediger detaljer.
2. 2Fill in Solgte timer and save.
3. 3The Solgte timer card appears on Oversikt with a bar, how many hours have been logged, and how many are left. Once you go past the agreed number, the card says how far over you are.

Hours are logged the normal way, on the timesheet: see Log hours. Anything booked against the project counts, whether it was logged on one of the project's tasks or straight onto the project itself.

Leave the field empty for a project with no hours limit. Empty and zero are not the same thing: empty means nobody agreed a number and no countdown is shown, zero means you agreed to nothing and every logged hour is over.

This is not the same number as the task budget. The hours estimated on the project's tasks add up on their own and move every time somebody adds a task. What you sold does not move when the plan does, which is exactly why comparing the two is worth doing.

A running timer does not count until it is stopped. That is deliberate: otherwise the hours left would tick down live and change while you were reading it.

If your projects come from an accounting system, the hours it reports are shown separately and are read-only. This field is yours, it is never overwritten by a sync, and it is the one to use when the accounting system knows nothing about what was agreed.
