Turn a deal into a job

Most service work is sold before it is done, so most jobs should come out of a deal rather than being typed in twice.

Set it up once. In your pipeline settings, tick the box on whichever of your own stages means "now go and do it". There is no stage called Jobs and we do not add one: you decide whether that moment is Won, or Signed, or Scheduling, because every company draws the line somewhere different.

Then it is automatic. Moving a deal into that stage creates the job, carries over the customer, the contact, the project and the currency, and copies the quote lines onto it. Move the deal out and back and you get the same job, not a second one.

The job keeps a link back: Åpne salgsmuligheten dette kom fra.

The quote becomes a starting point, not a promise. Copied lines arrive as Fra tilbudet and marked Planlagt. Nothing is billed because a line was quoted. The crew ticks off what they actually did, changes what changed, and adds what they found. See Lines, and what actually gets billed.

And the deal stops invoicing. This is the part worth understanding. Once a job carries the billing for a deal, winning that deal no longer raises its own one-time invoice — otherwise the customer would get two. The invoice comes from the job, built from the delivered lines, at the point the work is actually finished.

That is the whole reason the module exists. You quote a price, then you find rot behind the panel, or a part that has to be replaced, or the job takes two hours less than you thought. The invoice is not knowable when the deal is won, so the deal no longer pretends it is.

Or book one by hand. Book et besøk on a deal creates the visit there and then, without waiting for a stage to be reached: Kunden, stedet og pengene hentes fra salgsmuligheten. Å vinne salget godkjenner arbeidet; besøket er det som fakturerer det. Tick Kopier tilbudslinjene over på oppdraget to bring the quote across. De kommer inn som en plan. Mannskapet huker av det som faktisk ble levert, og bare det blir fakturert. The same button is on a project.

If you do not use deals at all, none of this applies and nothing above happens. A job can be created straight from the Jobs page (Create a job), from a project when one installation needs several visits, or by an automation.
