Forum categories

A forum can be split into categories, so one channel such as Marketing holds Design, Branding and Copywriting without three more channels in everyone's sidebar. Categories are one level deep and entirely optional: a forum without them works exactly as before. Forum channels

Make a category

Open the forum and press Ny kategori beside the new post button. Give it a Namn, and if you like a Färg, an Ikon and a Omslagsbild, so it can be recognised at a glance. Anyone in the forum can make one.

Once a forum has its first category, every new post goes into a category. The posts that were already there move to Utan kategori; the dialog says so before you create it.

The front page

The forum opens on its categories, shown as cards, with the Senaste inläggen from all of them underneath. Each card shows how many posts it holds, how many have something you have not read ({{count}} nya), when it last moved and who is talking in it, so you can see where something happened without opening anything. Press a card to see only its posts, and Alla kategorier to go back.

Write a post in a category

From inside a category, the new post goes there. From the front page, choose the Kategori when you write it; the same list has Ny kategori at the bottom, so you can make one without leaving the post.

Move posts

Press Markera above the list, tick the posts, and choose Flytta till. Their replies move with them.

To file everything in Utan kategori at once, press Sortera med Dealy on its card. Dealy suggests a category for each post; nothing moves until you have checked the list and pressed move. A post he is unsure about stays where it is. This needs Dealy to be switched on for your workspace.

Mute a category

Tysta is per person, from the card's menu or the bell at the top of the category. A muted category no longer raises your unread badge or notifies you, but its card still shows what is new, so you can look in when it suits you.

Private categories

Turn on Privat and choose Vem som kan se den. Nobody else sees the category or its posts anywhere, including search and notifications. A post can only be moved into a private category if the person who wrote it can see that category.

Change or delete a category

Whoever made a category, and the channel's admins, can Redigera or Ta bort it from the card's menu. Deleting keeps its posts and moves them to Utan kategori. A private category has to be emptied first, so its posts never become visible to the whole forum by accident.
