Consent and opting out

Consent is recorded on the person, not assumed. Every contact and lead carries Samtykke til SMS-markedsføring, and shows either SMS samtykket or Ingen SMS-samtykke. Somebody who has withdrawn it shows SMS avmeldt.

The line that matters is between a message they are expecting and a message you want to send. A booking confirmation, a delivery time, a reply in a conversation they started — those are service messages, and consent is not the question. Anything promotional needs their agreement first, and needs to be recorded here rather than remembered.

STOP works, and it is not up to you. A recipient replying STOP is opted out immediately, at the number level. Further messages to that number are blocked rather than delivered, which is why an SMS can show Mislyktes for a number that plainly works. The block covers your workspace's messages to that number, including notification SMS to your own staff: Nummeret ditt har reservert seg mot SMS fra denne leietakeren (sannsynligvis etter et tidligere STOPP-svar). Kontakt en leietakeradministrator for å aktivere SMS igjen.

Do not work around it. Texting an opted-out person from a second number, or as a "one-off exception", is exactly what the rules exist to prevent, and the penalties fall on your company rather than on us.

Before a bulk send, filter on consent rather than sending to everyone and hoping. An unwanted text costs you money, goodwill and, in the Nordics, potentially a complaint to the regulator.

Marketing has its own consent handling, including a preference page recipients can manage themselves: Consent, unsubscribes and deliverability
