Replying to and forwarding an email from inside DealJourney
Any email on a record can be answered where you are reading it, so a conversation that started in Outlook or Gmail does not have to go back there to be continued. The message opens at a mail client's reading width, so a screenshot someone pasted in is readable rather than shrunk to a thumbnail.
Where the buttons are. Open an email — from the timeline on a customer, contact, lead or deal, or from that record's E-post tab — and you get Svar, Svar alle and Videresend under the message. This works for mail of every origin: taken in through the Outlook add-in (Let Dealy suggest a reply to an email in Outlook), pulled in by the mailbox sync (Put mail on the customer automatically), or sent from DealJourney in the first place.
Who it goes to.
- Svar writes back to whoever sent it. On a mail you sent yourself it writes to the people you sent it to, because answering your own message means carrying on with them.
- Svar alle adds everybody else who was on it and puts the original copied parties back on CC, where you can see them. Your own addresses are left off throughout.
- Videresend starts with nobody on it, for you to address.
Every line stays editable before you send, so removing someone is a click.
What the recipient gets. The composer opens with the subject prefixed once — one "Re:" rather than a stack of them, whatever prefix the sender's own mail client used — and with the original message underneath yours. Press Opprinnelig melding in the composer to read what is being quoted; it is not editable, so what you quote is exactly what arrived.
A reply continues the conversation it answers, so it arrives under the original in the recipient's mail client instead of starting a second thread on the same subject. A forward is a new message and does not join the old thread.
Attachments. Forwarding carries the files that came with the mail. If one of them cannot be read, you are told which, so you can attach it yourself rather than discovering at the other end that it never arrived.
Pictures inside the message — a pasted screenshot, the logos in someone's signature — travel with the quote as well, so the message you forward or reply to reads the way it did when it arrived. Those pictures live in the mailbox the mail came in through, not in DealJourney, so they are fetched when you press the button. If the original has since been deleted from that mailbox, or the mailbox is one that does not hand them over, the quote carries the text without them rather than arriving with broken image icons in it.
Which mailbox it leaves from is the one shown at the top of the composer, your own connected Outlook or Gmail account, so the reply lands in your Sent folder and reaches the recipient from your own address. The reply-to address and sender name can be set per message: Send an email with replies going to another address, or under another name.
The sent message is filed on the record you answered from, so the next person to open it sees both halves of the exchange. Everything else about writing mail here — templates, several recipients, a follow-up reminder — works the same way: Reading and sending mail inside DealJourney.
