Get back to the record you were just on
Recent is an optional button near the top of the menu. Click it and you get a short list of the records you opened most recently, newest first. Click one and you are back on it.
It answers a different question from the menu. The menu is where you go; this is where you have been. It is the fastest way back when you have followed a company to a deal, the deal to a contact, and then cannot remember which company you started on.
Turn it on
It is off until you ask for it, and turning it on changes the menu for you only, never for your colleagues.
- 1Open your own settings from your avatar in the top right.
- 2Under Personalization, switch on Recent records button in the menu.
The button appears in the menu straight away. The list starts empty and fills as you open records, so it has nothing in it the first time you look.
Switching it back off removes the button and stops the trail being kept at all.
What ends up in the list
It covers records, not pages. Companies, contacts, leads, deals, activities, subscriptions, orders and your own custom objects all appear. Opening a list, a report or a settings screen does not.
Each entry says what kind of record it is, on the right of the name, so a company and a deal that share a name are still telling you apart.
It is yours, and it follows you. The trail is kept against your own user, not shared with the workspace, and it is stored with your other personal settings rather than in the browser, so it is the same on your laptop and on your phone. It is also kept per workspace: switching workspace shows that workspace's trail, never records you cannot open.
A record you can no longer open drops out by itself. If something was deleted, or somebody changed what you are allowed to see, the entry disappears from the list the next time you open it rather than sending you to a page that no longer exists.
Names are read fresh each time, so a company renamed after your last visit appears under its new name, not the one it had when you opened it.
