Send an email with replies going to another address, or under another name

Available on all plansHow-toOpen in DealJourney

An email you send from DealJourney goes out from your own connected mailbox. A reply-to address lets the answers land somewhere else, the way a contact form works: send a mail-out from your own mailbox and every reply arrives in, for example, info@yourcompany.com. The recipient still sees you as the sender.

On a single email or a mail-out

In the email composer, click + Reply-to / sender name. Two fields appear under the recipients:

  • Reply-to: one email address. Replies from every recipient go there. Leave it empty and replies come back to you.
  • Sender name: the name the recipient sees next to the address, for example your company's or a client's name. Leave it empty to use the mailbox's own name.

The same fields apply when you send to many people at once from a list or a report (each recipient still gets their own email), and when you schedule the email to go later.

Microsoft mailboxes show their own name. Microsoft 365 always displays the name set on the mailbox in Microsoft, whatever DealJourney sends, so for an Outlook mailbox the sender name field is replaced by a note saying so. The reply-to address works on every mailbox: Outlook, Google and mailboxes connected with a password (IMAP).

A default reply-to for the whole workspace

A workspace administrator can set the reply-to every composer starts with. Open Admin, go to Tenant Settings, open the Email tab and fill in Default reply-to address. From then on the composer opens with that address already in the reply-to field. Anyone can change or clear it on a single email; that never changes the default.

Leave the setting empty to keep the usual behaviour, where replies go to whoever sent the email.

Mailboxes connected with a password

A mailbox connected over IMAP and SMTP (with its password rather than a Microsoft or Google sign-in) can be picked in the From field and sends through its own mail server, reply-to and sender name included. If the mail server refuses the email, the message says why, for example that the saved password no longer works; reconnect the mailbox and send again.
