Edit a customer
To change a customer's details:
- 1Open Customers from the sidebar.
- 2Find the customer in the list. Type in the search box to narrow it down if you have a lot of them.
- 3Open the menu at the end of the customer's row and choose Edit, or choose View Details to open the full record first.
- 4Update whatever you need: company name, email, phone, owner, industry, address, and so on.
- 5Press Save.
Many fields can also be changed without opening the record at all: click a cell directly in the list (for example the email, status, or assigned user) and edit it in place.
The Email action on the company uses the company's own email address. To write to a contact person, open that person's contact instead. If the company action is unavailable, add an email address to the company and save it first.
Changes made directly in the list appear immediately while they save. If a save fails, the previous value returns and a message explains that the edit could not be saved.
On the full customer record, standard detail fields save automatically when you finish editing them. On smaller screens, open Info to reach these fields. The company name must not be empty. Clearing an optional text field removes its saved value.
If an automatic save fails, the unsaved value stays available in that browser tab, including when you leave the record and return. Use Retry after resolving the problem. Escape cancels the current field's pending edit. Changes to different fields can save independently; if two people change the same field, the last accepted save determines its value.
