Import or update products from a file

  1. 1Open the import and choose Importer eller oppdater poster.
  2. 2Upload the file. One row per product, with at least a product name or an item number.
  3. 3Check that the columns landed on the product fields. Next to Importerer som: it should say Produkter; if it does not, pick it there.
  4. 4Continue. The next screen says how many products are in the file and how each row will be matched.
  5. 5Choose Fortsett. A check runs first, without saving anything, and tells you how many products will be created and how many existing ones will be updated, plus any rows that cannot be imported and why.
  6. 6Choose Bekreft import.

A file of more than 5,000 rows skips the check and imports straight away in batches, with the reasons for any rows that failed on the result page.

How a row finds the product it updates

  • Item number first. A row whose Varenummer belongs to one of your products updates that product. Upper and lower case and spaces around the number do not matter.
  • Then the exact name. A row with no matching item number updates the product with exactly the same name, unless that product already has a different item number. Two products called "Service hour" with item numbers 100 and 200 are two products, and a row saying 300 becomes a third.
  • Otherwise a new product. A new product needs a name.

If two of your products share the item number or the name a row matched on, that row is not imported, and the result says which value was shared. Fix the duplicate in your product list, then import that row again.

An update only changes the columns your file fills in. An empty cell never clears what a product already has.

Prices, VAT and yes or no columns

  • Prices are read the way they are written in the Nordics and in English: "1 234,50", "kr 1.234,50" and "1,234.56" all work. A price that is not a number stops that row with the reason, instead of saving the product without a price.
  • VAT follows the MVA-kode. Map a VAT code column when you have one. A file with only a VAT rate gets the one VAT code for that rate (25, 15, 12 or 11.11). A rate of 0 has several codes, so map the code instead.
  • A new product gets your workspace's currency and is one-time, unless the file says otherwise. See Prices, VAT and margin.
  • Yes or no columns, such as whether a product is active, accept yes, no, ja, nej and nei. Any other word stops that row with the reason.

Importing products never sends anything to your accounting system. Push them from the integration's sync page when you want them there.

Undo

Angre denne importen removes the products the import created, for 72 hours. Products it updated keep their new values. A new product that has already been put on a deal, an order or a subscription is left in place.
