Prices, VAT and margin

Price and cost. Pris is what the customer pays. Kostpris is what it costs you, and it is optional, but without it margin cannot be worked out. When you enter the cost, the Bruttomargin (%) fills in from the price and the cost.

VAT. Each product carries a MVA-kode, and that code is what decides the tax applied wherever the product is used. Setting it on the product rather than per quote is deliberate: it means the rate is right by default, including for products that are exempt or zero-rated, without asking whoever builds the quote to remember.

Changing a price does not rewrite history. Quote lines and subscriptions already created keep the price they were created with, which is correct, because a customer who signed at last year's price is paying last year's price. A new price applies to what you build after the change. If an existing agreement is meant to move to the new rate, that is a change to the subscription, not to the catalogue.

Discounts belong on the line, not on the product. When a customer negotiates a lower price, adjust the price on that quote line. Editing the catalogue changes the product for everybody and for every future quote, and one customer's negotiation quietly becomes your new list price.

A recurring product's price is per pricing period. The Standard prisperiode you choose is shown next to the price, and monthly revenue is worked out from it. Hvordan du foretrekker å vise produktprisen i tilbud — månedlig, årlig osv. Påvirker ikke når fakturaer sendes. A monthly product priced at 1,000 is 1,000 a month, not 1,000 a year, worth checking, because the mistake looks identical on the screen and is out by a factor of twelve in every revenue figure.

Sending products and invoices to Tripletex. The product's MVA-kode determines its tax treatment, including zero-rated exports. Currency does not choose VAT. When an invoice has no explicit tax selection, DealJourney checks its linked Tripletex product. If neither supplies a VAT code, choose the correct code on the product and try again; no invoice is created while the tax treatment is missing.

Products from PowerOffice carry PowerOffice's VAT. PowerOffice has no VAT on a product: it charges the VAT of the sales account the product is booked on, which is the product's own account, else its product group's. Each sync copies that account and its VAT code onto the product here, so a deal, quote or project invoice using it shows what PowerOffice will charge (an export product on an account with code 52 shows 0 %, for instance). A product with no account of its own or on its group uses PowerOffice's default sales account, which PowerOffice does not let DealJourney read; such a product keeps the VAT it had here, and the project invoicing screen says its VAT is not confirmed. Give the product (or its group) a sales account in PowerOffice to fix that, then sync products.

Discounts sent to e-conomic. DealJourney preserves the discounted line total within e-conomic's two-decimal quantity, price and percentage limits. If a quantity or fixed discount cannot be represented accurately, the push stops before creating the draft. Adjust the line's quantity or discount so the intended total can be represented, then try again.

Editing and copying prices. The catalogue may show whole amounts, while Pris in the editor keeps the exact saved decimals. Changing a description leaves existing prices and manual currency prices intact. Decimal commas and decimal points are both accepted.

Changes to Manuell prissetting take effect only when you save the product. Avbryt discards these changes. When copying a product, currency choices apply to the new copy; the original stays unchanged. If prices cannot be loaded, use Last priser på nytt before saving. If saving currency prices fails after the product itself has saved, the error explains that partial result; reopen the saved product to correct its prices.
