Platform-specific instructions (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix...) covers the usual site builders.
Ask for as little as possible. Every optional field you switch on loses you some submissions. Name, email and message is enough to start a conversation; you can ask for the rest in your reply, when they are already talking to you.
⟦Success Message⟧ is worth writing properly. "Thanks, we have got it and will reply within one working day" ends the interaction well; a bare "Submitted" leaves people wondering whether it worked.
Spam. Spam Prevention gives you Honeypot (blocks bots) and Rate limit / IP / hour: Leave the honeypot on — it is invisible to real people and stops most automated submissions.
Regenerating the key breaks every embed. Need a new widget key? This will break all existing embeds. Regenerate widget key? All existing embed snippets will stop working. Only do it if the key has leaked, and re-paste the snippet everywhere immediately afterwards.
Widget or chatbot? The widget is a form: they write, you reply later. The chatbot answers immediately from your knowledge base and only creates a ticket when it cannot: Put the chatbot on your website. Many sites run both — the bot on every page, the form on the support page.
