Connecting it. Open the Microsoft Teams settings and authorise the connection. It needs an administrator of your Microsoft tenant to consent, not just you — that is a Microsoft requirement, and it is the step that usually takes a day rather than a minute.

Microsoft also has a second switch, and it is off by default. Separately from the consent above, a Teams administrator has to allow transcripts to be read over the Microsoft Graph API at all: Teams admin center, Meetings, Meeting settings, Transcript API access, then turn Microsoft Graph access on. Microsoft introduced this control on 29 July 2026 and defaulted it to off, so it can switch off a connection that had been working for months, with nothing changed on either side. What then happens. When a Teams meeting is transcribed, the transcript is collected and matched to the customer or deal the meeting was about, using the attendees and the calendar event. Review the summary, do not just trust it. It is a good first draft of what was agreed and what was promised, and it is occasionally confidently wrong about who said what. Transcription has to be on in Teams. Tell people they are being transcribed. In most of Europe that is not optional, and Teams announces it — but a customer who is surprised by it mid-call is a customer having a different conversation than the one you wanted.
