Put people into a sequence
Enrol someone from their record, or select several from a list and enrol them together. Pick the sequence, and the first step runs according to how it was set up.
Enrol from a filtered list, not from everyone. The filter is what makes a sequence appropriate — leads from one campaign, customers who have not been contacted in six months. A sequence sent to a list nobody narrowed is a mailshot, and it will be read as one.
Check for people already enrolled. Someone in two sequences at once gets both, and the two cadences interleave into something neither of you intended. Check before a bulk enrolment rather than after.
They need a valid email address for email steps to run. People without one silently receive nothing, so if a sequence seems to reach fewer people than you enrolled, that is the first thing to check.
Removing someone. Un-enrol them and the remaining steps stop. Anything already sent has been sent — un-enrolling is not a recall.
Replies stop it automatically, which is the behaviour you rely on: once a person answers, the rest of the cadence stops rather than continuing to chase somebody already in conversation with you. Take over the thread yourself from that point.
Watch the first enrolment through. Look at what actually went out and when, before enrolling a hundred people into a sequence nobody has seen run.
