Add panels to a tab

Available on all plansHow-toOpen in DealJourney

A panel is a whole working component rather than a single value, and it shows this record's own data. Panels show this record's own data. Drag and resize them once they are on the tab. This is what lets one tab replace three: the contacts, the open deals and the timeline side by side, instead of a tab each.

Add one

  1. 1Open the tab, switch on ⟦Edit Layout⟧, and choose ⟦Add panel⟧.
  2. 2Pick from ⟦Add a panel⟧. A panel already placed is marked on this tab.
  3. 3It lands on the grid at a sensible size. Move and resize it from there. Arrange and resize what is on a tab

What you can put on a tab

  • ⟦Timeline⟧ - Every note, call, email and system event on this record.
  • ⟦Write a note⟧ - The note box from Overview. Posts straight to the timeline.
  • ⟦Upcoming activities⟧ - What is booked or overdue on this record: meetings, tasks, follow-ups and open tickets.
  • ⟦Activities⟧ - Tasks and meetings booked against this record.
  • ⟦Calendar events⟧ - Meetings in the calendar that point at this record, and a button to book another.
  • ⟦Contacts⟧ - The people at this company, as on the Contacts tab.
  • ⟦Opportunities⟧ - Open and closed deals for this customer.
  • ⟦Subscriptions⟧ - Recurring revenue on this customer.
  • ⟦Invoices⟧ - Invoices raised against this customer.
  • ⟦Tickets⟧ - Support tickets raised by this customer.
  • ⟦Documents⟧ - The record's files, from SharePoint / Google Drive / Dropbox.
  • ⟦Linked records⟧ - Your own objects that point at this record.
  • ⟦Customer health⟧ - The health score and the signals behind it.
  • ⟦Revenue contribution⟧ - What this customer is worth against the rest of the book.

Which of these are offered depends on the record type and on the modules your company has switched on. A panel for something you do not use is not in the list.

On one of your own objects Work with custom records the list is shorter, because most panels are about a company: there is no health score on a machine and no invoice raised against a property. What you do get is the timeline, the note box, the record's files, the activities and calendar meetings booked against it, and the records that link to it. Anything else you want on that tab you build from its own fields. Put fields and groups on a tab

Set a panel's options

Select the panel while editing and open ⟦Panel settings⟧. Applies to this panel on this tab only. The same panel on another tab keeps its own settings, so a compact timeline on a summary tab and a full one elsewhere are both fine.

Under Options, panels offer what makes sense for them, for example:

  • Compact rows
  • Show the filter bar
  • Include related companies
  • Hide anything already overdue
  • Read only (no uploading from this panel)
  • Show which record each entry belongs to

The same panel settings also decide whether the panel appears on phones and tablets. Arrange and resize what is on a tab

When a panel says it cannot show anything

You no longer have access to what this panel shows. means the panel is fine but this particular person is not allowed to see what it holds; they see the message instead of the data, and nobody else is affected. This panel could not be loaded. is a loading problem, and reopening the record usually clears it. A panel marked Widget unavailable belongs to something that no longer exists: This panel is no longer available. Remove it, or pick a different one.
